We designed a schedule that balances teaching and inquiry with plenty of room for putting your own ideas into practice right away. Our hope is that you engage at our camp in the same ways that we set out for students in the classroom. We want you to observe carefully, to define problems, to make, to struggle, to share feedback, to revise and reinvent, and ultimately to learn more about yourself as both a learner and a facilitator.
9:00a - 12:00p
The Morning Project
Start each morning with a structured collaborative project, designed to inspire deep thinking across all grade levels and content areas. End the morning with a thorough reflection and debrief, including ways to adapt the activity for your own classroom. Leave with five ready-to-go project ideas for September.
12:00 - 1:00
Lunch is catered and included with tuition. Take advantage of our outdoor patio space or work straight through with one hand on a sandwich and the other on a laser cutter.
1:00 - 2:15p | 2:30 - 3:45p
Afternoon workshops are designed to break down the thinking from morning activities. You take two workshops a day and we always pair in the same block one skill-building workshop with one theory and practice workshop. Start with 21 Essential Tips for Paper Crafting and move onto Idea Generation: How to Design a Meaningful Project.
3:45 - 4:00p
Let It All Sink In
Take a few minutes at the end of the jam-packed day to capture the ideas that the projects and workshops sparked. Reflect on what you will carry into your own classroom.
Formal programming ends at 4 pm every day. However, every evening, the studio spaces remain open and our instructors are on site until 9pm (we can be encouraged to stay even later). This optional block is officially your time. Play with new equipment, seek one-on-one feedback from our team, think through new or existing projects for you classroom, or simply hang out. As the saying goes, we leave the light on for you.
